Abstrakt: The article focuses on the use of personal computers for teaching graphics to journalism and mass communication students. Those who teach page design can use low-cost home computers and the emerging graphics accessories available for machines like the Apple II or the Commodore 64. A roomful of this equipment, enough for 30 work stations, would cost about the same as one of the low-end dedicated work stations, and would be more versatile. With an optional printing program, the designs can be printed on a dot matrix printer. They can be used as instructional materials or submitted by students for grades. The images that result from printing are approximately the size of book illustrations, about five inches deep, but are proportional to full-size pages.
