This article states that nearly one-half of daily newspaper advertising managers polled in a recent nationwide survey said they actively seek college graduates for sales positions. Papers with larger circulations are more likely to seek college ad majors and to succeed in hiring them than are smaller papers. The survey was prompted by the lack of information about opportunities for graduates in newspaper advertising, which produced revenues of $25 million in 1986, 27 percent of all U.S. media expenditures. |
