The article discusses the immune response to Trichophyton rubrum infections. Immunity, in its wider sense, may signify besides the act of freedom, its mechanics also. Experimental studies designed to elucidate the nature of immunity in microbial infections start from the premise established by Koch's phenomena which explain the diminution of the incubation period and a quicker evolution of the second infection which result from the development of acquired immunity. Natural immunity may be broken down by removal of glands such as the thyroid, the spleen, the adrenals and the testes, or by dietary deficiencies, injury by radiation, fever and many other debilitating factors. |
