Pandemics and Epidemics: Financial and Economic Effects.

Abstrakt: The article examines a number of the epidemics and pandemics that have occurred over the course of U.S. history. They include the yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1793, the cholera epidemic in New York City in 1832, and the Scarlet fever epidemic in Massachusetts from 1858 to 1859. Also mentioned are the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918-1920, and the Asian flu pandemic of 1957-1958. The financial and economic effects of pandemics and epidemics are discussed.
