Abstrakt: Despite his health issues, Semple followed through on his determination to become an artist, exhibiting in clubs and bars and selling his art on eBay. In 2007, Semple displayed the exhibit Fake Plastic Love - a show featuring billboard-sized paintings - at the Truman Brewery during the Frieze Art Fair. More than ten thousand people visited the exhibit and Semple sold more than one million dollars' worth of artwork in the first five minutes of the show. Jonathan R. Jones wrote in review of the exhibit for Modern Painters (Feb. 2015): "To cut through our cynicism and give images again the power to disturb is quite a feat; that Semple manages it via the medium of paint is even more impressive.".
