It also details the types of construction of the houses in the different periods and the impact of outside factors, including the relevant pieces of legislation. Details are provided on the types of construction and included the Crane building system of concrete walls supported by a steel frame. With the 1970s there was a return to low rise, and the 1980s saw the demolition of some of these mass housing schemes and the demolition of some of the areas I knew so well: Balloon woods, Old Basford and Hyson Green but not the tower which does survive.
