Abstrakt: A selection of technologies have been developed to address the protein production issue, such as systems for automated cloning, media enabling self-induction and fully automated cell culture systems. However, these technologies automate only parts of the protein expression process. The expression factory has been designed to overcome these issues, automating the protein expression process, from gene to protein. Beginning with polymerase chain reaction products and cDNA clones, it is possible to plan, automate and track the entire process of sub-cloning, expression and purification of hundreds of proteins in parallel. The article describes results obtained using the expression-factory to automate the simultaneous expression of human p53 protein in a variety of fusion constructs.
