Abstrakt: The article provides a historical overview of the award-winning student-centered writing projects. It mentions that Brown School's celebration of diversity occurred simultaneously with the Kentucky Education Reform Act's investment in student voice during the time of writing portfolio assessment; and also mentions Middle school youth deserve in-school opportunities to write in a variety of genres that will help them achieve multiple purposes and motives.
