First, the injection of 20 mL of dye demonstrates that the iliopsoas plane and our target plane are not discrete compartments, but instead communicate with each other.[5] From a biomechanical point of view, the iliopsoas tendon needs to glide freely over the anterior hip joint. Our dye injection with 20 mL resulted in spread all around the anterior and inferomedial hip region, where the articular branches of the obturator nerve cross laterally to innervate hip.
