Abstrakt: This article looks at Shaquille O'Neal's decision to leave the Los Angeles Lakers. Less than a month after his team lost the NBA championship, the star center got his wish to be traded to another team. The Lakers and the Miami Heat recently shook the balance of the NBA and finalized a deal that sent O' Neal to South Beach, with L.A. getting Caron Butler, Lamar Odom, Brian Grant and a first-round draft pick in return. The trade marks a return to Florida for the 32-year-old O' Neal, who began his NBA career in 1992 with Orlando and still has a home there. O' Neal joins a Heat team that has reached the conference finals only once in its 16-year history and went 42-40 last season. With the departure of three starters, Heat president Pat Riley will build his title-contending team around O' Neal and guards Dwyane Wade and Eddie Jones.
