| Abstrakt: | Worker larvae receive less royal jelly and more bee bread, a delicacy derived from fermented pollen and honey. Because of plentiful fat bodies and an enlarged hypopharyngeal gland, a winter bee can secrete enormous amounts of royal jelly, even six months after eating any protein herself.
