Abstrakt: A biography of mathematician Karen Uhlenbeck is presented. She was born in 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, and got enrolled in Brandeis University, where she continued to study mathematics while receiving funding from the National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship. She became particularly recognized for her work on soap bubbles, and devoted a portion of her career to the Yang-Mills equations. She first got married to biophysicist Olke Uhlenbeck, and then to mathematician Robert Williams.
