Pierre Evrard Taillart was the extremely famous successor of Michel Blavet at the Concert spirituel in Paris. Not much is known about his musical career. He was celebrated not only as an orchestral flautist and soloist (he played about a dozen times as soloist at the Concerts spirituels); he also made a name for himself as a composer and publisher of a number of very popular editions of recueils. Comments in the press also provide some information about him as a player and publisher. Comparisons with other flautist colleagues in Paris and foreign guest musicians at the Concert spirituel also give some insight. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
