Introduction: Elderly people involvement several physical changes, changes in cognitive functions, changes in their family environment, or the feeling of marginalization on the part of their family. The most important problem faced is the social isolation and exclusion from recent socio-economic developments. Despite of limited research regarding the elderly people using new technology, it is considered to be a source of social support and improvement of the elderly. Method: The studies of this literature review were identified by searching in Google Scholar database and bibliography of identified articles. Results: The use of new technology for developing systems and acquiring basic digital skills that enhance the role of caregivers, creating smart homes as interactive living environments, monitoring systems and health care systems, are programs that promote active aging aiming at improving quality of life of the elderly. Conclusions: Efficient health promotion programs for healthy and active aging are being promoted in society with the aim of motivating people, improving lifestyle and offer for encouragement to be autonomous in their daily life.
