The article reporst that lead apparel is used to reduce the amount of radiation absorbed by patients and the dental professionals who use them. Often underemphasized in radiation protection practice is the care of lead shielding devices. Storage and hygiene instructions are provided by manufacturers upon purchase, yet protective apparel can often be found stored in ways which may damage the lead under the fabric covering. |
