Uncivil behaviors in any healthcare environment can lead to ineffective teamwork, decreased staff satisfaction, and compromised safety for patients. Studies show that the TeamSTEPPS curriculum has improved staff satisfaction and morale, communication within healthcare teams, and patient safety in clinical settings. Childbirth educators and healthcare providers in obstetrics and gynecology can benefit from using TeamSTEPPS to prevent and mitigate uncivil behaviors and to promote effective teamwork and patient safety.
