Advancement in weapons and ammunition technology constantly thrust a need of more effective body armour. The main challenge in effective bulletproof armours is light weight vest that provide maximum comfort with optimal protection. In India, most of the fatalities were due to gunshot wounds selectively aimed at head, face, neck and thorax for security forces. These days threat level change from handguns to heavier type of ammunitions such as rifle and bullets, ballistic jackets and vests need to be armoured with suitable light weight protection to provide optimal protection. Light weight flexible and effective bulletproof protection is need for hour and it will conserve effective manpower. In India only NSG commando wear high grade, level 3 Kevlar bulletproof vest that can withstand a 7.62 calibre bullet fired from a 10mrange from AK 47.
