Abstrakt: This study analyzed the effect of caffeine supplementation on cholesterol in vascular occlusion during strength exercise in 12 men. Exercise protocol: 6 sets of bench press with a bar and vascular occlusion, until failure, with 20% of 1RM. Caffeine Supplementation: Intake of 420 mg of caffeine 60 min before exercise. Cholesterol was measured in 6 moments. In the supplement situation, there was a significant decrease during the 45-min recovery compared other moments. In the control situation, there was no significant difference between any of the moments (P>0.05). No significant difference was found between the supplementation and the control situations (P>0.05). The caffeine supplementation had no influence on the subjects' cholesterol in vascular occlusion exercise when compared without supplementation. But, there was a significant within moment difference in the supplementation at the 45-min recovery that shows caffeine may be beneficial in reducing acute cholesterol levels. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
