The mainstay of treatment for the uncommon tumors of the oral cavity is still meticulous, well-planned surgery, where every attempt is made to secure clear margins. Careful histological assessment by an experienced tumor pathologist is essential as there is marked morphological overlap between relatively benign lesions and some uncommon malignancies of the oral cavity. For most of these tumors, radiotherapy has only a modest role, and the use of chemotherapy has only been explored in anecdotal fashion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
