Abstrakt: To address the chasm between learning about effective teaching practices and being able to implement those practices competently, teacher preparation programs have begun to adopt rehearsals as a pedagogy. Teaching rehearsals are opportunities to develop an understanding of instructional practices in an authentic, but scaffolded environment. These have been shown to help novice teachers gain competency in complex teaching practices. In this study, we explore this pedagogy with in-service secondary teachers. Results indicate that in these rehearsals the teacher educators were less directive in their suggestions and the participating teachers were more assertive in making suggestions as compared to rehearsals with pre-service teachers.
