PPR is an acute, highly contagious and economically important viral disease of small ruminants. A polyclonal based indirect ELISA was developed for detection of antibodies to PPRV in the sheep sera samples using partially purified PPR viral antigen propagated in verocell lines. A cut-off value was set as twice the mean of negative population based on the distribution of known negative serum samples in respect of PPR viral antibodies in the test. The present assay had 100% specificity and 84% sensitivity and can be used as a good alternative to SNT for disease monitoring and serosurveillance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
