The article presents the author's views on history of gaitanism in popular culture of Colombia. Various topics discussed include populism in country's politics, importance of gaitanism in the Colombian history, political mobilization in 20th century, political language used in Colombian politics and bipartisanship. It further discusses history of conflicts between country's population and oligarchy, political movements in Colombia, gaitanism in 1940s and its existence in political history of Latin American countries. |
