Abstrakt: This article focuses on the effect of nurse and peer intervention in recovering older people with cardiovascular diseases. Several studies show that recovering from a cardiac event causes physical, emotional, social, and financial stress in both the recovering patient and the family members. However, it is estimated that 9 million older Americans live alone and report having no one for support. Social support is one factor reported to be important to health outcomes. In these studies, peers provided emotional support, encouragement, and lifestyle advice to a person similar to themselves.
