The article discusses the need for the public to change its prevailing attitude that people with disabilities are incapable of participating in or contributing to society. Topics discussed include data indicating that less than 20 percent of Americans with disabilities are employed. Also mentioned are the benefits of portraying people with disabilities in popular media as being productive members of society and capable of accomplishing unexpected tasks. |
