The article discusses the evolution of the currency and banking systems in Canada. Also cited are the establishment of a banking system following the passage of the Constitution Act of 1791, the founding of the Bank of Montreal in 1817, and the importance of the concepts of American Alexander Hamilton on the establishment of commercial banking system in Canada. |
