Abstrakt: Umblachery cattle breed is an animal genetic resource of Tamil Nadu. Efforts to conserve such resources require study on decision making pattern in Umblachery cattle farming activities. Hence, the study is conceptualized with the financial support of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University - Corpus Fund and purposively carried out at Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur districts of Tamil Nadu. Data, using a well-structured and pre-tested interview schedule, were collected from 360 respondents who were selected from the study districts applying simple random sampling technique. The analysis of collected data revealed that the contribution of women in decision making on feeding (8.33 per cent), breeding (59.44 per cent) and general management (55.00 per cent) was more whereas men contributed more in decision making on marketing (55.00 per cent) and expenditure (40.28 per cent). The results will be helpful for the policy makers to consider the influence of decision making pattern in Umblachery cattle conservation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
