Abstrakt: The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of formaldehyde spraying in broiler pens on feed intake, live body weight and feed conversion ratio (weekly interval), clinical signs (entire period of experiment) while haematological (Hb, PCV, TEC, TLC, Blood Clotting Time) and biochemical (glucose, total protein, albumin and creatinine) parameters were estimated at day 0 (pre-experimental), 14th and 28th days of treatment. Severity and extent of the clinical signs were varied according to concentration of formalin solution sprayed. The clinical signs observed were severe dullness, depression, somnolence, anorexia, gasping, staggering and diarrhoea. The significant reduction in live body weight and feed intake was observed in formalin sprayed groups. Significant decrease was recorded in hematological parameters such as Hemoglobin, Total Erythrocyte Count, Total Leukocyte Count and Packed Cell Volume in formaldehyde sprayed groups while Blood Clotting Time found increased significantly. The biochemical parameters (total protein, albumin and glucose) showed significant decreased levels while significant increase in level of creatinine was recorded in formaldehyde sprayed groups. The findings suggested that the formalin spraying at higher concentration is harmful to the birds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
