This article discusses how advances in gas infrared drying technologies have increased the efficiency, production, and quality in processing webs with tenter finishing lines. A gas infrared pre-dryer is used to evaporate moisture from a textile web by radiant heat. This method of drying is well suited to pre-drying when high-input moisture contents are involve. The two reasons for a gas infrared pre-dryer are to improve quality while continuously dyeing and/or to increase production of an existing range. When space is a limiting factors pre-dryer can be placed above the floor to save space. When dyeing, quality is the main factor. Webs that enter the tenter range above 30 percent will migrate. The extent will depend on various factors. |
