This paper focuses on the performance enhancement of micro-grinding of BK-7 glass through modification of polycrystalline diamond (PCD) micro-grinding tools. A single groove and double perpendicular grooves were created on the flat end of the PCD tools using wire EDM process. The performance of single-groove and double-groove PCD tools with flat end wascompared based on grinding forces and surface roughness values. Modified PCD tools allowed for the significant decrease of grinding forces as well as surface roughness compared to those obtained with flat end tool. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
