Abstrakt: This article raises a question on whether a parrot is a service animal. Topics covered include why an emotional support animal (ESA) is not a pet, the domestic animals that can qualify as ESAs, including dogs, birds and rabbits, and the types of service dogs for children, including traditional service dogs, seizure alert dogs and guide dogs. Mentioned also are what the Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988, the federal Air Carrier Access Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act say about ESAs.
