Abstrakt: Eyeglasses, medicine, and surgery correct most of the visual problems. However, people who still have trouble reading, recognizing others, or seeing objects and potential obstacles such as steps, curbs, walls, and furniture — even after seeking correction — are experiencing problems with low vision. Ophthalmologists and optometrists who specialize in low-vision care perform extensive tests to determine visual function so they can recommend low-vision devices that would be the most useful in individual cases. Many low-vision devices are available.
