Abstrakt:	The article presents an essay on the film adaptation of John Fowles's novel and his collaboration with film director David Tringham. The author highlights the failed collaborative project of Fowle and Tringham which was initially titled "The Girl in Black" and its revised version "The Black Thumb" after they parted ways. The details of Fowle and Tringham's previous work are also briefly discussed.
