Abstrakt: The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of the porosity of perforated swash bulkheads on the mitigation of sloshing in rectangular tanks. The analysis is carried out by the numerical simulation of threedimensional reduced scale models with and without a watertight bulkhead and tanks with perforated swash bulkheads that contain 4 circular holes in a 2x2 arrangement, with different sizes. In order to model the highly nonlinear behavior of the phenomenon, a fully Lagrangian particle-based simulation approach is adopted. The sloshing behavior is analyzed for three filling levels and a frequency range that covers the two first sloshing resonance modes of the liquid motion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
