Malassezia Dermatitis in a Calf.

Abstrakt: A two month old female Jersey crossbred calf was presented with hyperkeratinization of neck, trunk, limbs and localized alopecia. Acetate tape impression smear and hair pluck fungal culture was positive for Malassezia spp. Treatment was initiated with vitamin AD3E subcutaneous injection once a week and topical application of vinegar and water in the ratio of 1:3 and ketoconazole 1% & chlorhexidine gluconate 2% shampoo once in 3 days along with liquid paraffin, sulphur, salicylic acid ointment for 28 days. Animal regained normal skin coat. Repeat tape impression smear was negative for Malassezia spp. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
