The article presents an introduction to the book Legalized Gambling. Many issues are very confusing, and it can be difficult to know what to think about them or how to make a decision about them. Sometimes one must gather information about a subject before one can be informed enough to make a decision. But gathering information is only one part of the decision-making process. The way one interprets information is influenced by the values one had been taught since infancy, ideas about right and wrong, good and bad. Making a fair and informed decision can be an exciting process, a chance to examine new ideas and different points of view. After one had formed an opinion about a particular subject, one may believe it is the only right decision. The Pro/Con series is designed to explore and examine different points of view on contemporary issues and to help one develop an understanding and appreciation of them. |
