Imaging of liver-localized post-transplantion lymphoproliferative disease as complication of liver transplantion.

Abstrakt: Objective: Post-transplantation lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD) is a well-known complication of solid organ transplantation that is typically of B cell origin and has a strong association with Epstein–Barr virus infection. PTLD localized in the transplanted organ is very uncommon, and some authors even state that it must be considered as a different entity. This report describes three cases of liver-localized post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease (LL-PTLD) after liver transplantation, and the most characteristic imaging findings, including ultrasound, CT, biliary drainage images, with special emphasis on MR images. To our knowledge, the MR appearance of LL-PTLD has not been previously reported.Conclusion: LL-PTLD is a rare complication of liver transplantation, but this possibility should be considered when a solid mass in the transplanted liver is found. Obstructive jaundice appearing between 4 and 15 months after transplantation is a common clinical presentation. The mass has more frequently a portal or periportal localization, and it causes narrowing of biliary ducts and intrahepatic vessels. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
