The article reports on the programmes initiated by the European nations to replace the ageing frigate fleets of the European navies. It cites the Frégate européenne multi-mission (FREMM) multi-mission vessels of the French Navy wherein it plans to replace its seven Cassard- and Georges Leygues-class frigates. It notes that the FREMM programme is being managed by the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation of the French and Italian navies. |
