Abstrakt: The present study is based on survey of 2028 buffalo to ascertain the reproductive efficiency and disorders in rural areas of Punjab. Most of the buffalo calved during summer and were in oestrus within 4 months of calving. More than 50% buffalo had a calving to conception interval of >3 months, and conception required >2 AI. Anoestrus was major reproductive disorder (27.1%) followed by repeat breeding (17.2%), retention of placenta (8.9%), abortion (4.2%) and dystocia (5.7%). The most prominent oestrus sign was cervicovaginal mucus discharge (70.8%). Artificial insemination was a popular choice of breeding in 56.2% of buffalos. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
