Abstrakt:	The article examines the political and economic conditions in the Democratic Republic of Congo as of August 2016, highlighting President Joseph Kabila's ambition for a third term. Kinshasa has been reportedly growing since 2011, however, there are still slums and fears of a political crisis. Also discussed are the need to reform the voter registry, political corruption, and the United Nations' role in the electoral process.
