During the last ten years a series of investigations have been conducted at the Sociological Department, University of Stockholm, to study how some parts of the Swedish welfare-system are utilized and evaluated by citizens. The first investigation studied people's evaluations and utilization of different social insurance benefits, their attitudes to the Insurance Benefit Societies and their experiences in their contacts with the Societies, The study was based on a nation-wide sample of the Swedish population between 16 and 75 years of age. The rate of dropouts from the sample of about 2000 persons interviewed was 5.9%. The second investigation studied the persons who had asked for help and service of the employment exchange as well as their attitudes towards the employment exchange, their knowledge about the labour-market policy and their evaluations of the help they had received.
