The present study was aimed at evaluating and comparing anaesthetic effects of propofol on induction and maintenance, with triflupromazine hydrochloride (group I), diazepam (Group II) as premedicants in twelve dogs. The character of anaesthesia during induction, surgical plane of anaesthesia and recovery was asessed. Physiological; biochemical and haematological parameters were recorded. No significant changes were observed in any of the parameters. It is concluded that continuous infusion of propofol with diazepam and triflupromazine provides adequate muscle relaxation and satisfactory surgical anaesthesia in dogs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
