To explore the contemporary impact of gender on the practice of medicine this paper examines attitudes, values, and perceptions of the workplace among women physicians by means of field observation, informal interviews, and content analysis. It focuses on two organizations for women physicians, the Medical Women's International Association and the American Medical Women's Association, including its Gender Equity Task Force. An online resource site and a funding program are also examined. Emerging themes are highlighted and methodological implications discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
