Thirty weaned Large White Yorkshire (LWY) pigs (2.5- 3.0 months old, 12.10 ± 0.19 kg) divided into 5 groups of 6 each (3 males and 3 females). The pigs in group I were fed on standard concentrate ration (SCR), whereas in group II and III, 50 per cent of SCR was replaced (on DM basis) either with jaggery filter cake (JFC) or kitchen waste (KW), respectively and 100 per cent with JFC in group IV and KW in group V for 182 days. Pigs receiving 100 per cent KW achieved highest body weight (83.51 kg), daily weight gain (392.81g) as well as feed: gain efficiency (3.56). The DM intake (kg/d) was significantly low in pigs fed on 100 per cent JFC or KW diets than those fed SCR and 50 per cent JFC or KW based diets. The cost incurred per kg live weight gain was maximum (Rs. 53.54) in group I and minimum (Rs. 25.90) in 100 per cent KW based group V, which gave 273 per cent higher net returns over group I.
