Introduction: Increased mortality was observed in a multi-aged flock of Village Chicken farm. The clinical signs observed among the chicken includes depressed, weak, diarrhoea and low in flock uniformity. Results: The clinical signs, post mortem findings and bacteriology result suggestive of fowl cholera which is caused by Pasteurella multocidu. Post mortem findings showed high incidence of multifocal pin-point white spot lesions on the surface of the liver, petechial haemorrhage on the epicardial fatty tissue of the heart and also congested lungs. Conclusion: The bacteriology result confirmed the presence of P. multocidu in the chicken. Vaccination failure, poor management and biosecurity were among the cause of reoccurrence of fowl cholera in this farm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
