Abstrakt: In this chapter, the authors argue that sound strategic judgment is an essential quality for effective business strategists. They found that the strategic judgments of top managers have been studied infrequently. There are serious gaps in our understanding of how and what strategic judgments are made by executives and of the effects such judgments might have on the strategies and operations of the firm. Yet, the gaps in current knowledge also highlight the potential for strategic judgment research to aid academics in building strategy theory and to aid practitioners in making strategic decisions. Our knowledge of strategic judgment can be extended most effectively through direct contact with strategic managers. The authors urge that strategic judgment receives additional research attention.
