Abstrakt: This article discusses the need to reduce the number of motorized metal boxes, including cars, lorries and vans, in the cities of Great Britain as a positive step forward for city centre environment. Topics discussed include the light rail revolution under way in cities such as Manchester and Sheffield, the mixture of light and heavy rail systems operated by cities such as Edinburgh and Liverpool, and the proposal by Leeds for a new dual-carriageway across the north and east of the city.
