Abstrakt: A first group of unpublished documents concerns a judicial dispute in 1515 between the sculptor Tullio Lombardo and the Procurator of San Marco, Andrea Gritti. The subject of the dispute was two statues, a St Francis and a St Anthony of Padua; Lombardo demands payment for the statues, but the future Doge denies ever having commissioned them. The witnesses are two other artists, the sculptor Lorenzo Bregno, and Pietro Bon, the chief procurator of San Marco de supra. The judgement ruled in favour of the powerful Andrea Gritti. A second group of documents concerns Tullio Lombardo's private life. In particular, the original family of his first wife, Sebastiana, is identified. She belonged to the Pellestrina family, who originated from Chioggia, and who in the late fifteenth century became part of the Venetian citizen class, working in the field of officia, as members of the Venetian chancellory or as notaries.
