Abstrakt: The clothing styles found among native Americans who lived on the Plains were often similar in basic structure, but symbols, designs, and some of materials used to create these adornments differed from group to group. The buffalo hide was the most commonly used material. Not only was clothing made from buffalo hides, but so too were shoes, accessories, tools, utensils, ceremonial items, children's toys, and homes. Elk teeth were the most prized of all dress decorations. Plains men wore shirts, breechcloths, and full-length leggings. They often had beautifully decorated war shirts. Women wore dresses and shorter leggings. INSETS: Untitled;Untitled.
