Voice Coil Generator for a Free-Piston Stirling Engine.

Abstrakt: In this paper we present a new solution for converting of mechanical energy developed by a free piston Stirling engine into electrical energy using a voice coil type generator. There are presented the using of a free piston Stirling engine in a cogeneration plant and the main steps in the design of a voice coil linear generator. The design procedure for voice coil type linear generator starts with the design of the free piston Stirling engine and finally uses the Faraday law of induction. The magneto-static magnetic field generated by permanent magnets is analyzed by means of Finite Element Method in order to evaluate the magnetic flux density in the air gap, which is a design data imposed in the design stage, and the results are compared.
