The article discusses research which evaluated the fiber-optic-based distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) technology for offshore hydrocarbon pipelines. Topics discussed include the characteristics of the technology, the applicability of DAS systems to detect leaks under conditions that simulate a typical subsea environment, controlled leak actuation and measurement of the pressure and temperature of the test fluid. |
